Six promising courses worth considering!

Abstract:
NANO-TECHNOLOGY

Though scientists are able to move molecules and atoms in a mass, they are unable to precisely manipulate them. In the future, however, nanotechnology will let us redesign and create exactly what we desire. A relatively new field, it is fast emerging with exciting applications in bio-science, medical science, environment, electronics, cosmetics, security and variety of other fields.

What it takes: To arm yourself with a postgraduate degree in Nanotechnology you would need a basic degree in science with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Salary & scope: Freshers' get a salary of Rs.20,000 to Rs. 30,000. The CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) has set up 38 laboratories, across the country, to carry out research and development work in this field. Some of the companies in India that provide job prospects are Cranes Software International Limited, Bangalore and Monad Nanotech Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai.

Where to study: Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research, Jakkur, Bangalore; Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
