Abstract:
SouthWest NanoTechnologies Inc. CEO Dave Arthur will be speaking at the 2009 NanoBusiness Conference on Tuesday, September 8 addressing the company's progress in commercialization of carbon nanotubes, inks and coatings.
The title of his presentation at the Chicago Hyatt Regency McCormick Place at 10:45 AM is," From Nanotechnology to NanoBusiness: Commercializing Carbon Nanotubes."
SWeNT is a leading developer and manufacturer of Single-wall Carbon Nanotubes (SWCNT) and Specialty Multiwall Nanotubes. Their new manufacturing facility, opened last year, increased single-wall carbon nanotube production capacity 100-fold and one-tenth the unit cost. Employing the low-cost CoMoCAT® process, high quality and the ability to tailor product properties
is assured.
The company recently secured a $3 million investment from Insight Technology Capital Partners, LP, (Insight) a Growth Capital Fund based in Troy, Michigan.
Arthur is a leading expert in the field of carbon nanotubes, with 25 of years experience commercializing products utilizing advanced materials.
Arthur is also president and co-founder of Chasm Technologies in Canton, Massachusetts. Chasm develops scalable manufacturing processes for coated and printed thin films and helps its customers commercialize new products using novel nanomaterials.
He holds an MBA from Northeastern University, an MS in chemical engineering from the University of Connecticut and a BS in chemical engineering from Tufts University.
Additionally, the company will have a booth in the exhibition space to meet with customers, partners and investors.
Single and multi-wall carbon nanotubes consist of a hollow cylinder of carbon with a diameter equal to approximately one nanometer - a billionth of a meter. Carbon nanotubes possess extraordinary optical and electronic properties, tremendous strength and flexibility, and high thermal and chemical stability. Today, carbon nanotubes are used in a wide range of applications in the automotive, aeronautics, electronics, displays, energy and healthcare markets.
