Abstract:
Dr. Serge Oktyabrsky, Professor of Nanoscience at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering ("CNSE"), today received the Award for Excellence in Research from the University at Albany ("UAlbany") for exceptional research over a sustained number of years.
Dr. Oktyabrsky is currently a professor and leader of a compound semiconductors group at CNSE, specializing in research and development of materials and structures for novel optoelectronic and microelectronic devices. He has more than 25 years of experience in electronic materials, design, fabrication, and characterization of semiconductor electronic and photonic devices, has authored more than 170 papers, and holds 3 patents in these fields. Dr. Oktyabrsky's recent research activities focus on physics and technology of quantum confined structures, microcavity photonic devices and group III-V based MOSFETs. He is a senior member of IEEE, a member of SPIE -The International Society for Optical Engineering, Materials Research Society, and Microscopy Society of America.
Dr. Oktyabrsky is among 18 UAlbany faculty and staff who were honored during an awards ceremony in the Campus Center Assembly Hall that recognized outstanding performances in areas that include teaching, academic service, research, professional service, and support service.
