Events to draw hundreds of leading faculty, scientists and researchers to CNSE's Albany NanoTech
The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering ("CNSE") of the University at Albany announced today that it will host three prestigious global nanotechnology conferences this year that will bring hundreds of leading faculty, scientists and researchers from around the world to CNSE's Albany NanoTech Complex.The 2009 International Conference on Frontiers of Characterization and Metrology for Nanoelectronics, to be held May 11 through 15, is regarded as the world's premier forum on metrology and characterization. Presented by the National Institute of Standards and Technology ("NIST"), the conference focuses on frontiers and innovations in characterization and metrology of nanoelectronics, addressing major issues and providing critical reviews of important techniques needed to keep pace amid the growing integration of nanoscale technologies.
The acceleration of nanoscale solutions for energy applications will be the focus of an event to be held April 26 through 28. Nanoscale Measurement Challenges for Energy Applications Global Workshop, presented jointly by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers ("ASME"), the National Renewable Energy Laboratory ("NREL"), NIST and CNSE will explore the challenges involving measurement of properties at the nanoscale for use in alternative energy technologies, low-cost energy production and increased energy efficiency.
And, CNSE will partner with the National Center for Learning and Teaching ("NCLT") in Nanotechnology at Northwestern University to host the Symposium on Advances in Higher Education in Nanoscale Science and Engineering from August 5 through 8. The conference will convene experts in higher education to assess the current state of nanoscale science and engineering education and chart a course for the future.
