Cima NanoTech partners with Japanese firm on new product
Abstract:
Cima NanoTech has partnered with a Japanese chemical company to launch a film product that would be used to make Plasma TVs and other flat-panel displays.
Cima NanoTech, a nanotechnology startup in St. Paul, has collaborated with Toray Industries Inc. on the product for three years. Tokyo-based Toray has more than 38,000 employees and sells plastics, films, textiles and other products.
Cima NanoTech's film will be marketed to electronics makers, who would use the product in place of a chemical-laden and costly manufacturing process.
Cima NanoTech recently raised $7 million in venture capital from investors based in Asia. The firm is not related to Brooklyn Park-based Cima Labs Inc.
