Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor in R&D partnership with Europe's IMEC
Abstract:
Powerchip Semiconductor Corp (5346.TW) entered into a partnership with IMEC, Europe's leading independent nanoelectronics research center, to conduct research and development in sub-32nanometer (nm) memory process technology, according to a statement from the two firms.
As part of the agreement, the Taiwan maker of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) and flash memory chips will collaborate within IMEC's advanced "lithography program addressing immersion, double patterning" and other challenges, the statement said.
From March 2008, some Powerchip researchers will be stationed at IMEC to closely collaborate with IMEC researchers, it said.
