Parliamentary team in CU to study progress of nanotech project
Abstract:
Calcutta University today gave a presentation of how the varsity will spend the Rs 100-crore grant on the Centre of Nanotechnology to a 14-member parliamentary committee on human resources and development.
The team, aided by six officials of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD), was in the university to know about the progress of the project.
"We will study the project and submit our recommendations to the Centre," said Meinya Thockam, president of the parliamentary committee. The finance ministry had sanctioned the fund in 2006. The university has received a grant of Rs 30 crore, and spent Rs 10 crore so far.
