Roth Motor Company Launches Electric Motorboard - Next Generation Electric Scooter at Alternative Car Expo in Santa Monica, CA

Los Angeles, CA | Posted on October 16th, 2007

Roth Motor Company has topped its own design and engineering prowess with the release of the all-electric, 16 lb., fully portable Motorboard 2000XR. Deemed "the ipod of electric scooters," the exquisite design of the Motorboard takes the scooter concept to the highest level of form and function. Motorboards cater to the environmentally conscious while remaining a viable option for urban commuters, municipal, security and airport personnel. They're suitable for any location with vast expanses of pavement to traverse - college and corporate campuses, paved park grounds, warehouses and motion picture studio lots. Motorboards offer a realistic portability factor as the vehicles are easily folded, and can be carried effortlessly onto public transportation and stored away unobtrusively in small spaces when arriving at any destination.

"I wanted to build a truly portable device that could be easily carried and yet was still powerful enough to pull an adult up a modest grade. Most importantly, it had to be easy to ride," says David Roth, Co-Founder and Chief Engineer for Roth Motors. The 2000XR model sports the latest in nano technology, an evolutionary step beyond its Motorboard predecessors. Since he first launched the 1500X in 2002, Roth has doubled the power and reduced the weight. Its design incorporates a powerful lithium ion battery that quick-charges in 90 minutes. Fully portable and ultra light-weight at just 16 lbs., the 2000XR's speed reaches 15 mph, and will carry the average sized rider (up to 250 lbs.) between 4-7 miles on a single charge. Available extended range models can travel up to 20 miles on a single charge.

"In order for electric transportation to have a significant environmental, social, and economic impact, vehicles must become accessibly priced. Motorboards are a relatively inexpensive alternative for green-minded consumers who may be hesitant or unable to spend tens of thousands of dollars for a hybrid," explains Roth. With widespread concern about global warming, worldwide consumers who are looking for ways to participate in fuel-based energy conservation and in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions will find the Motorboard 2000XR delivers a highly efficient, affordable solution for a variety of frequent, intermediate range transportation needs.

The Motorboard 2000XR (MSRP $799) is available online at http://www.rothmotors.com and at specialty stores throughout the country. Recently, the Motorboards were chosen as a gift for the entire cast and crew of HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm.

The Motorboards will be exhibited and available for test rides at the Alternative Car and Transportation Expo on October 19th and 20th at the Santa Monica Air Center - Barker Hanger, 3021 Airport Ave., Santa Monica, CA 90405 from 10:00am-5:30pm.
