Research centre gets €14 million funding boost
Abstract:
One of the biggest research centres in the country, the Tyndall National Institute, is set for a €14 million funding boost which will be announced early this week..
The Science Foundation of Ireland (SFI),which promotes scientific research, and the government will provide the funding for the electronics research centre, which is part of University College Cork.
Total planned official funding for the centre is now €40 million over the next six years.
It also earns significant funds from industry. Tyndall, which was set up in 2004, researches photonics, electronics, materials and nanotechnology.
