Advertorial: Innovate through R&D and adopt new construction methods
Abstract:
For materials research the value and supply chain of construction must play an active role in their innovations. Other than construction materials, opportunities lie in construction methodologies particularly labour reducing techniques and industrialisation of construction, tooling technologies, energy saving designs, robotics, and intelligent traffic systems and buildings.
The potential of ICT has not been fully exploited while new areas, such as nanotechnology is yet to make its appearance in the construction research scenario. The Government must take the lead in this effort. The venture capitalists will follow suit once it is proven that such a risk-taking approach will be able to produce astounding results.
