High-Performance Batteries Could Solve Energy Storage Problem for HEVs
Abstract:
Nanoexa announced today that its subsidiary Decktron will combine technologies to develop lithium batteries that will outperform currently available batteries. The batteries could end up in plug-in electric hybrid vehicles.
Nanoexa's technology is based on a positive electrode material that is comprised of a nano-crystalline layered-layered composite structure. The company says this cathode technology will give Decktron's batteries the ability to deliver more than 3000 watts per kilogram. Nanoexa claims also to have developed low-cost, scaleable methods to manufacture positive electrode material in high volume.
