World’s 1st Flash Memory Cell Technology Developed
Abstract:
A team of South Korean scientists has developed the world's first flash memory cell that employs an eight-nanometer design rule. A nanometer is equivalent to about one-96,000th of the thickness of a human hair,
The team, headed by Prof. Choi Yang-kyu at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Tuesday announced that the feat will open up an era of terabyte-level flash memory.
When commercialized, a single terabyte-level chip will be able to store roughly 500,000 MP3 music files or 1,250 high-quality movies. One terabyte equals 1,000 gigabytes.
