The Sole of Tactical
Abstract:
For an an idea of how tech-obsessed this industry has become, Mackness talks about the potential nanotechnology offers tactical footwear manufacturers.
"I think this will play a big role down the road," he says. "Take the wicking type of lining or the construction of the mid-sole. The ability to micro-engineer allows more things to take place, for example the size of the bubbles being used in cushioning. Nanotechnology would allow many times more bubbles of much smaller sizes to be injected into the space. This would result in a much lighter weight with much greater cushioning. Or wicking could have a greater number of smaller elements that would improve performance."
