Korea on track to become biotechnology leader
Abstract:
Chung Bong-hyun, director of Bionanotechnology Research Center at the Korean Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology achieved a measure of success in this area when his team found an easy and replicable method of producing colored metal colloids. Metal nanoparticles are useful in biological sensing applications because they change color under certain conditions. There are existing methods of producing metal colloids in various colors, but mass production using conventional techniques is difficult and the yields are very low, requiring different chemical reactions and conditions for different colors.
