Carbon Nanotube-Aptamer Combination Yields Single Molecule Sensor
Abstract:
Carbon nanotubes have shown great promise for creating single-molecule biosensors for detecting disease given that their electrical conductivity undergoes measurable changes when they bind biomolecules. Now, a team of investigators in Korea has shown that attaching DNA aptamers to the surface of a carbon nanotube provides specificity and durability to match the exquisite sensitivity of the nanotube.
