Californian scientists make nano switch breakthrough
Abstract:
Californian scientists have produced the first electrical switch to be made from carbon nanotubes. They hope that eventually they will replace silicon in computer chips, leading to faster and cheaper components.
'The small size and dramatic switching behaviour of these nanotubes makes them candidates for a new class of transistor,' said Prabhakar Bandaru, engineering professor at the University of California San Diego.
