Nanorotors take a turn
Abstract:
Gas-propelled nanorods can be sent spinning by tethering them to a surface, potentially providing moving parts for nano-machinery.
Geoffrey Ozin and colleagues at the University of Toronto in Canada produced their nanorotors by chance while studying 'barcoded' metal nanorods, in which successive segments of the rods are made from different metals.
