DNA Nanotubes Could Wire Molecular Electronics
Abstract:
Dwayne Hunter: Tiny tubes of DNA have been developed that could be used to wire nanoscale electronics. To construct the nanotubes, Thomas LaBean and colleagues from Duke University in North Carolina used rigid tiles formed from multiple strands of synthetic DNA. The tiles, known as triple-crossover tiles, self-assemble under suitable chemical conditions to form tubular structures just 25 nanometers in diameter and up to 20 micrometers long.
