Nanodevice could beam out microwaves
Abstract:
Scientists in the US have shown that a magnetic-multilayer structure can act as a nanoscale motor, converting electrical current into high-frequency magnetic rotations. The researchers, from Cornell University and Yale University, believe that the devices could act as nanoscale sources for microwave radiation. “This project is part of continuing work in ‘spintronics’ - trying to make electrical devices that take advantage of the electron’s intrinsic spin, and not just its charge,” said Dan Ralph of Cornell.
