Abstract:
The profound impact of nanoscience and chemistry on the future of healthcare will be explored in the opening session of the American Chemical Society's (ACS') 256th National Meeting & Exposition, Aug. 19-23 in Boston. ACS President Peter K. Dorhout, Ph.D., is cosponsoring the session, which will set the stage for the meeting's theme of "Nanoscience, Nanotechnology & Beyond."
Opening session: "21st Century Medicine Will Transform Healthcare: Opportunities for Nanoscience and Chemistry" by Leroy Hood, Ph.D., of the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle. Paul Weiss, Ph.D., of UCLA will moderate the session, which will take place Sunday, Aug. 19, 4–5 p.m. in the Boston Convention & Exposition Center, Ballroom West.
Welcome reception: The reception will take place at the Expo & Career Fair, Sunday, Aug. 19, 5:30–7:30 p.m., in the Boston Convention & Exposition Center, Hall A.
Presidential programming and events will emphasize Dorhout's themes of enhancing chemists' adaptability and promoting safety and diversity, beginning with the two-part symposium "Moving the Safety Values of the ACS Forward," which highlights safety education, communication and leadership.
