Abstract:
Pokhara, a famous touristic city in Western Nepal, is finally set to host its first ever international meeting on Advanced Materials next week. The meeting named as “Kathmandu Symposia on Advanced Materials (KaSAM)- 2016” will be held from October 17-20, 2016 in Mount Kailash Resort, Lake Side, Pokhara. This edition of biennial KaSAM series is organized by Nepal Polymer Institute (NPI) in association with Pokhara University, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and a German based organization- Institut für Polymerwerkstoffe (IPW)- Merseburg.
Santosh Thapa, PhD Fellow at the US based University of North Texas Health Science Center and one of the members of the Organizing Committee informed us that “More than 140 research papers on recent advancement in material sciences and engineering will be presented during the four days long KaSAM-2016. The technical program comprises of Keynote Lectures, Oral Presentations and Poster Session in the related field along with a special symposium on ‘Science, Technology & Innovations for Nepal’. A short course on ‘Recent developments and research trends in nanomaterials’ has also been arranged for young scientist and students, in the first day of the conference.”
“KaSAM-2016 will be addressed by many eminent scientists from more than 15 countries including Prof. Bernhard Bluemich (Aachen University, GERMANY), Prof. Holger Schönherr, (University of Siegen, GERMANY), Prof. Jean Marc Saiter (Université de Normandie, FRANCE), Prof. Valerio Causin (Università degli Studi di Padova, ITALY), Prof. Ashutosh Tiwari (Linköping University, SWEDEN), Prof. Shigeru Okamoto (Nagoya Institute of Technology, JAPAN), Prof. Shinichi Sakurai and Prof. Hirokazu Hasegawa from the Kyoto Institute of Technology, JAPAN, Dr. Jakub Sirc (Academy of Sciences of CZECH REPUBLIC), Dr. Ralf Lach (Polymer Service GmbH Merseburg, GERMANY), Ms. Gwendolyn Bluemich (Strategic Education & Workforce Development Initiatives, GLOBAL FOUNDRIES, USA), Prof. Susanta Banerjee (Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur, INDIA), Dr. Rabindra Prasad Dhakal (Nepal Academy of Science and Technology, Lalitpur, NEPAL), Dr. Netra Lal Bhandari (Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, NEPAL), Dr. Ajaya Bhattarai (M. M. A. M. C, Tribhuvan University, Biratnagar, NEPAL) and many others, said Prof. Rameshwar Adhikari, Chairman of the Nepal Polymer Institute and Professor of Chemistry in Tribhuvan Univeristy, Kathmandu.
According to a recent press release issued by the organizers, a pre-conference workshop –‘Second Kathmandu Autumn School on Chemistry and Chemical Technologies (KASChem-2016)- Part I’ will be organized in Pokhara University in Oct 17 while the remaining two parts will be arranged in Chitwan and Biratngar as post-conference workshops.
