The competition was held in exam centers in 23 provinces of Iran, including Tehran, Ahvaz, Qom, Arak, Zahedan, Ilam, Tabriz, Isfahan, Karaj, Mashhad, Kermanshah, Kashan, Bushehr, Kerman, Gorgan, Qazvin and Rasht cities.
There were designed 85 multiple choices questions in the exam section of the Fourth National Nanotechnology Competition, and the contestants who wanted to take part in teaching section of the exam were required to answer three descriptive questions.
Among the 6,240 contestants who participated in the Fourth National Nanotechnology Competition, 3,650 contestants were females (58%) while 2,590 contestants were males (42%). The contestants were at various education levels as follows. 451 contestants were at PhD level (7%), 43 at DVM level (1%), 1,919 at MSc level (31%), and 3,827 at BSc and lower levels (61%).
Chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, materials engineering, biology and mechanical engineering with 1,329, 570, 394, 392, 321, and 309 contestants respectively were among the top majors in which contestants had been registered to take part in the competition.
In the Fourth National Nanotechnology Competition, Tehran, Fars, Khuzestan, Khorassan Razavi, Albroz, and Isfahan ranked first to sixth in the number of contestants with 1,437, 815, 579, 407, 316, and 315 participants, respectively.
