Abstract:
Springer Publication has recently released two new books namely "Infectious Diseases and Nanomedicine Vol I and II" edited by Dr. Rameshwar Adhikari and Santosh Thapa from Kathmandu, Nepal. These two volumes dedicated to "First International Conference on Infectious Diseases & Nanomedicine (ICIDN)-2012" (available at www.icidn2012.com), held in Kathmandu in December 2012, has been released by Springer Publication in one of its popular book series- "Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology".
According to the official webpage of Springer publication, "Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology has been publishing exceptional works in fields of neuroscience, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering and cancer research for over 30 years and is indexed in Medline, Scopus, EMBASE, BIOSIS, Biological Abstracts, CSA, Biological Sciences and Living Resources (ASFA-1), and Biological Sciences. The series also provides scientists with up to date information on emerging topics and techniques and has 2012 Impact Factor: 1.825."
According to the publisher, "the recent books on "Infectious Diseases and Nanomedicine" addresses the interdisciplinary scientific approach for the systemic understanding of connections between major human diseases and their treatment regime by applying the tools and techniques of nanotechnology. It also highlights the interdisciplinary collaborative researches for innovation in Biomedical Sciences. The book focuses mainly on the topics: emerging infectious diseases; antimicrobial agents, vaccines and immunity; drug design, drug delivery and tissue engineering; and nanomaterials and biomedical materials.
One of the guest editor of the volumes- Santosh Thapa, who is now at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Texas, USA said that " this book not only presents collection of best papers presented in the ICIDN-2012 in Kathmandu, Nepal but also includes contribution from some of the guest authors. According to him, the contributors of the volumes are world renowned experts in the field of biomedical sciences including Prof Ananda Mohan Chakrabarty (University of Illinois College of Medicine, Chicago, USA), Prof Geoffrey L Smith (Cambridge University, Cambridge, UK), Prof Pierre J Talbot (University of Quebec, Canada), Prof Rameshwar Adhikari (Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal), Prof Lodewyck Kock (University of the Free States, Bloemfontein, South Africa),
Prof Robert Bragg (University of the Free States, Bloemfontein, South Africa), Prof M. Morshed (University of British Columbia, Canada), Prof Jamboor K Vishwanatha (University of North Texas Health Science Center, Texas, USA), and Dr Victoria Firstova (State Research Center Moscow, Russia). Other researchers from State Research Center Moscow (Russia), Agriculture University of Georgia (Tbilisi, Georgia), Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (Lausanne, Switzerland),Tribhuvan University (Kathmandu, Nepal) and many more also contributed to this book.
