Abstract:
The Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST) will be hosting two upcoming courses to train professionals in airborne molecular contamination (AMC) control in cleanrooms and in preventing contamination in compounding pharmacies.

IEST Offers Two New Training Courses on Contamination Control in Microelectronics and Compounding Pharmacies

Arlington Heights, IL | Posted on January 22nd, 2013

The first course, Beyond HEPAs: Practical Applications of Assessment, Control, and Monitoring for AMC in Microelectronics Manufacturing Applications, will be held on Thursday, February 7, in Atlanta, Georgia. The course will address how to maintain optimum control of AMC in cleanrooms, and will provide examples of successful AMC control applications to illustrate the design concepts discussed and their impact on the final choice of systems. This continuing education course awards .6 CEUs.

The second course, Designing a USP 797 Compliant Compounding Pharmacy, is being offered on Tuesday, February 19, in Houston, Texas, and again on Tuesday, March 26, in Arlington Heights, Illinois. This course will explore the basic considerations for the design and environmental control of a compounding pharmacy that is in compliance with USP 797 requirements.

This continuing education course awards .6 CEUs. Topics include:

Facility layout and dimensions
Environmental controls
HVAC systems and filtration
Temperature, pressure, and humidity monitoring
Floors, walls, doors, sinks
Design for testing compliance rationale
Operation and maintenance

USP 797 requires pharmaceutical compounding to be performed in cleanrooms or other controlled environments as mandated for the compounding risk level. As the leading global resource for cleanroom practices and contamination control, IEST can help compounding pharmacies comply.

Registration for Designing a USP 797 Compliant Compounding Pharmacy includes a copy of the Recommended Practice IEST-RP-CC012.2: Considerations in Cleanroom Design - a $290 value. If three registrants from the same company enroll in this course or in Beyond HEPAs, the company will receive a complimentary fourth registration.

While these courses are available to all professionals in the Contamination Control industry, IEST Members can register for the courses at a reduced rate. More details about IEST membership, along with full course descriptions, fees, and online registration, can be found at www.iest.org.
