Oxford Advanced Surfaces adds Industry Leader to Technical Advisory Board

Yarnto, UK | Posted on January 10th, 2013

OAS is a specialist R&D company working in the areas of nanomaterials and highly reactive chemistry. OAS is a key partner for major global companies who license Intellectual Property and use advanced materials to develop innovative solutions for their products in the areas of anti-reflective coatings (ARC) and adhesion promotion for novel materials.

From 1 January 2013, Professor Steven Abbott will join Professor Mark Moloney on the OAS Technical Advisory Board. Steven brings with him a wealth of industrial, scientific and commercial knowledge from both research posts and a long commercial career at ICI and MacDermid Autotype covering all areas of the OAS market focus. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and an independent consultant to global tier 1 industrial partners.

Adrian Meldrum, CEO said "We are delighted to welcome Steven to the TAB. He has many years of invaluable experience in key industries and applications in which we operate and will bring significant value to our technical and commercial discussions as we drive our technology forward into industrial and consumer applications."

Prof Steven Abbott received his Oxford Chemistry D Phil for work carried out at Harvard. His post- doctoral was in the Nobel Prizewinning lab of Jean-Marie Lehn at Strasbourg. He is Visiting Professor at the School of Engineering at the University of Leeds. He has worked many years in the high-tech coating industry and along the way developed a passion for computer models that could give real- world insight to complex scientific issues such as precision coating or polymer/nanoparticle solubilities. He is an independent consultant at Steven Abbott TCNF Ltd where he continues to develop software apps on solubility, surfactancy, adhesion, diffusion and advises internationally on topics as diverse as cosmetic/pharma skin delivery, organic photovoltaics, packaging films and "green" surfactant design.

Prof Steven Abbott commented "I am very excited by the opportunity to work with OAS. Their technology offers a range of novel solutions to significant problems in the world of manufacturing and I look forward supporting their journey to commercialisation."
