Home > Press > Iran's Nano Chief Urges Development of Nanotechnology in Muslim States
Abstract:
Secretary-General of the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) Prof. Saeed Sarkar underlined that Muslim countries should put aside their differences and unite in developing nanotechnology.
Sarkar said without nanotechnology capability, the Muslim countries would lose out to those which are capable in this field.
"Nanotechnology covers all aspects of people's life and can be used to enhance their quality of life and generate wealth," he said at the 8th World Islamic Economic Forum's (WIEF) meeting titled 'the Business of Nanotech: Sizing Up Opportunity' in Malaysia Wednesday.
Asked about the possibility of sharing nanotechnology know-how among different countries, he said, nanotechnology could be transferred from one country to another but if the recipient country has no capability in nanotechnology, it would be of no use.
Sarkar said nanotechnology which can be compared to information and communication technology and microelectronics would create vast opportunities in scientific innovations, industrial competitiveness and economic power.
