Abstract:
Power plant filters modified by nanofibre technology were among the achievements presented in Equipment Zone of Iran Nano 2012 by Fanavaran Nano-Meghyas Company.
The production line of the product has already been inaugurated.
"Filters are one of the simplest nanofibres that have been commercialized in the world. The filters are produced by coating an ordinary filter with nanofibres, and they have much higher performance in comparison with the ordinary filters," Dr. Reza Faridi Majidi, the CEO of Fanavaran Nano-Meghyas Company, told INIC about the operation of these filters.
"We've been in contact with various industries such as filter fabrication industry. We observed some disadvantages in F9 filters. Therefore, we tried to optimize those filters by using deposition method in some parts of them. The process took about three years," he added.
Increasing the rest time of power plants during the maintenance of turbines is one of the characteristics of the filters.
Some of economical advantages of this product have been listed hereafter:
o Increase in electricity production; by using nanofilters, the sum total production of electricity in all power plants in the country will increase about 1,400,000 MW in a work period of the filters (one year).
o Value of the produced electricity; if this technology is used, the value of the electricity produced in a year will increase up to about $1 billion.
o Reduction in the depreciation of power plants' turbines; by using nanofilters, the depreciation in turbine blades reduces to the extent that about 1,000,000,000 rials will be saved in annual maintenance of any of the power plants.
The CEO of Fanavaran Nano-Meghyas Company elaborated on the new activities of the company, and said, "Nanofibres are able to perfectly filter small particles suspended in air. Taking into consideration the problems caused by the dust recently, we try to use nanofibres in increasing the performance of medical masks. The project is currently at the stage of development and production."
