Abstract:
Structured Materials Industries, Inc. (SMI) announced, today, September 27th 2012, that it has successfully concluded delivery of a second oxide MOCVD tool to an organization in Germany.

SMI Delivers Second Oxide MOCVD Tool in Germany

Posted on September 28th, 2012

Specifically, SMI has delivered an Epic series SpinCVD™ Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) tool. The system is designed for 2" and multiple sample substrate depositions. The system is focused on exploring advanced transparent and conductive oxide (TCO) materials and structures using metal organic and oxidizing sources. Included in the structures are layers for insulating and or passivation of the films. Applications can include contacts to photovoltaics and LEDs and display applications among others.

Mr. Provost, SMI's Director of Engineering, stated, "SMI works to develop and produce user friendly MOCVD growth tools and components and process enhancements for researchers addressing a wide range of material systems and applications. We are greatly pleased to see another of our tools being selected and utilized for the investigation and development of advanced oxide films for a wide range of applications. Our systems have been found to be well suited, by our customers and collaborators/partners, for oxides such as ferroelectrics, multiferroics, piezoelectrics, transparent conductors, superconductors, 2D electron gas structures, nanowires, and insulators. We are most happy seeing researcher use our tools to expand the knowledge base of a wide range of material system and contribute to technology advancement in general."
