Clinton Herring |
Abstract:
Lawton-based SWR&D, Inc. (SWR&D) has purchased the assets of NanoBioMagnetics, Inc. and its wholly-owned subsidiary, XetaComp from H. Thomas Moran & Associates. The purchase includes all intellectual properties, patents, and patents pending as well as laboratory and production equipment.
NanoBioMagnetics developed nanotechnologies for human health applications. Foremost among these technologies was a nano-scaled platform for the site-specific delivery of chemotherapeutics. According to Clinton Herring, president and CEO of SWR&D, "Our decision to purchase the company was based on the fact that the potential of these technologies were not fully realized under the previous ownership. It is our intention to fully develop these technologies. We are looking forward to continuing a collaboration with MD Anderson in developing this chemotherapeutic delivery system."
XetaComp had developed technologies and processes for the production of various nano-powders. "Our initial focus will be on the manufacture of a nano-scaled titanium dioxide. We have already contacted a number of potential customers who have requested samples of our product," says Herring. "We are currently in the process of upgrading the lab and production facilities at our Lawton location and hope to be in production within 30 to 60 days."
Included in the purchase were licensing agreements with Nanomateriales in Monterey, Mexico and NanoTherics in Keele, England. "We are in the process of evaluating and re-negotiating these agreements," says Herring.
NanoBioMagnetics was placed in receivership in 2011 as the result of a stockholders' lawsuit.
SWR&D's Lawton facility has approximately 10,000 square feet of office/lab/production space situated on 3 acres.
