Nanotechnology is rapidly transforming industries from medicine to energy to manufacturing. Since the passage of the 21st Century Nanotechnology R&D Act, the U.S. has spent $24 billion in the science of nanotechnology. The science is rapidly becoming the business of nanotechnology, creating thousands of new start-ups, bolstering nearly every industry across the globe, and bringing life changing innovations to market that already improve lives around the world.

"North Carolina is a national leader in nanotechnology and nanomanufacturing", noted Griffith Kundahl, Executive Director of COIN. "We are already seeing its steady impact on the manufacturing sector, creating jobs in clean energy, aerospace, medicine and biotech, materials and other areas."

Topics to be addressed during the conference sessions include: Nano Particle Manufacturing, NanoManufacturing for Aerospace Applications, Manufacturing for NanoBiotechnology Applications, NanoManufacturing for Energy, Materials and Other Applications.

"Along with our partners at North Carolina's Joint School of Nanoscience & Nanoengineering, we have assembled a tremendous lineup of keynote speakers touching on the topics that are transforming nanotechnology into nanobusiness," said Vincent Caprio, Executive Director of the NanoBCA.

The conference will feature a dynamic lineup of keynote speakers, including: Dr. Altaf (Tof) Carim Assistant Director for Nanotechnology, OSTP, Executive Office of the United States President; John H. Dorr, Vice President of Business Development, Nanocomp Technologies, Inc.; Joseph Piché, CEO & Founder, Eikos; Dr. Jeffrey Morse, Managing Director, National Nanomanufacturing Network; Charles Gause, Founder and President, AxNano, LLC; James G. Ryan, Ph.D., Founding Dean of the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering; Professor David L. Carroll, Ph.D., Director, Center for Nanotechnology & Molecular Materials, Wake Forest University; Steve Wilcenski, General Manager, Custom Products Business Unit, MEMSCAP Group; Dr. Ruben Carbonell, Professor of Chemical Engineering, North Carolina State University; Ajit Kelkar, Ph.D., Professor & Nanoengineering Dept. Chair, Joint School of Nanoscience & Nanoengineering; and Richard Czerw, Ph.D., CEO, NanoTechLabs, Inc.

About NanoBusiness Commercialization Association (NBCA)
The NanoBusiness Commercialization Association was founded in 2001 as the “NanoBusiness Alliance,” the first non-profit association focused on the commercialization of nanotechnologies. Through its extensive network of leading start-ups, Fortune 500 companies, research institutions, non-governmental organizations and public-private partnerships, the Association shapes national nanotechnology policy and helps accelerate the commercialization of nanotechnology innovations. The NanoBusiness Commercialization Association is based in Washington, D.C. and Shelton, CT.

About Center of Innovation for Nanobiotechnology (COIN)

Established in 2009, COIN is a non-profit, virtual center of innovation for nanobiotechnology and nanomedicine based in North Carolina. COIN supports those organizations that are most-impacted by the convergence of nano (advanced materials) and bio (life sciences) by ensuring that they have immediate structured access to all relevant resources and a conduit to key regulatory agencies impacting the field. COIN is a premier source of networking opportunities, information, and tailored innovation services that address client needs and catalyze and advance commercialization of nanobiotechnology. Through a network of academic and emerging company researchers, COIN provides access to a myriad of nano-biotechnologies that may be applied across a range of life science sectors. COIN provides a single point of entry to the nanobiotechnology community, connecting key players at the intersection of advanced materials and life sciences.
