Abstract:
Picosun Oy, Finland-based global manufacturer of state-of-the-art Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) equipment and Uppsala University, Sweden, solidify their cooperation in advanced ALD research with already second PICOSUN™ ALD tool delivered to Uppsala University's Ångström Laboratory. Picosun and Uppsala University have been close partners since 2009 when the first PICOSUN™ ALD system was installed in the Department of Materials Chemistry of the Ångström Laboratory. Also Nanexa, a Swedish nanotechnology company and a spin-off of Uppsala University has been using PICOSUN™ ALD tools in production of biocompatible filters since 2010.
The Ångström Laboratory is one of Europe's most advanced research facilities for materials science, and houses the largest university clean room in the Nordic countries, The Ångström Microstructure Laboratory. Its key research areas are micro- and nanotechnology for health and energy, and the now installed second PICOSUN™ ALD system will play a crucial role in research and development of advanced ALD processes for several novel applications such as surface treatment of carbon nanostructures, manufacturing of transition metal and compound semiconductor thin films, and deposition of ultrathin polymer layers on various substrates.
"We are pleased to continue our successful cooperation with Picosun in the form of already second PICOSUN™ system delivered to our laboratory. PICOSUN™ ALD tools' unmatched versatility, flexibility and modular, multifunctional design enable the most challenging, novel ALD process development without compromising even the strictest material quality requirements of both R&D and production scale. In addition to the top level ALD equipment quality, Picosun personnel's unparalleled ALD expertise and pioneering role in the development of the technology are irreplaceable collaborational assets when aiming at world-class, cutting-edge scientific research," summarizes Professor Shili Zhang, chair professor and division head of the Solid-State Electronics Division of the Ångström Laboratory.
