Abstract:
Research and Markets (www.researchandmarkets.com/research/c6113e/laser_ablation_in) has announced the addition of the "Laser Ablation in Liquids: Principles and Applications in the Preparation of Nanomaterials" book to their offering.
Laser ablation in liquids has been studied intensively in recent years, because it has shown great potential in laser material micro-processing, including the preparation of nanomaterials and the fabrication of nanostructures. Thus, pursuing physics and chemistry of laser ablation in liquids and exploiting new applications in nanomaterials synthesis is a very important challenge.
This book focuses on the fundamental concepts and physical and chemical aspects of pulsed laser ablation of solid targets in liquid environments and its applications in the preparation of nanomaterials and fabrication of nanostructures. The areas of focus include basic thermodynamic and kinetic processes of laser ablation in liquids, and its applications in metal and metal oxides nanocrystals synthesis and semiconductor nanostructures fabrication. The book comprises theoretical and experimental analysis of laser ablation in liquids, research methods, and preparation techniques.
Key Features:
Discusses great potential in a lot of nanomaterials preparation applications, including nanocrystals synthesis, functional nanostructures fabrication, and surface microstructures processing
Presents contributions by leading authors in the field written with the student in mind a good balance of theoretical and experimental chapters
Includes an extensive bibliography for further reading
Readership:
Advanced undergraduate- and graduate-level students in nanotechnology; researchers in material science, nanotechnology, physics, chemistry, biology, and medicine, especially those with an interest in nanomaterials.
Author:
Guowei Yang (Zhongshan University, P R of China)
Guowei Yang received his Ph.D. in materials physics and chemistry at Tsinghua University of China in 2000. He held a postdoctoral position at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, before joining the materials science faculty at Sun Yat-sen University, China, in 2002, where he is currently a full professor of materials physics and chemistry. His research interests include thermodynamic nucleation and kinetic growth of metastable phase at the nanometer scale, synthesis of nanocrystals and nanostructures with metastable structures and shapes under moderate conditions, and surface and interface of nanomaterials system.
