Abstract:
- Web-based presentations from experts
- Free for all to participate
- First-hand information on nanotechnology
On January 25, 2012, Prof. Wolfgang Heckl will inaugurate Nanostart AG's NanoWebTalk series with a live web-based presentation (in German) entitled "Nanotechnology Between Hype and Hope". Anyone can participate in the event from the comfort of their computer.
Prof. Heckl is the General Director of the German Museum, a member of Nanostart's Supervisory Board, and one of the world's leading scientists in the field of nanotechnology. His presentation marks the start of NanoWebTalk, a new event series organized by Nanostart AG.
NanoWebTalks are presentations on nanotechnology that will be held on the Internet every few weeks. Proven experts from the Nanostart network will discuss various topics relating to nanotechnology in online presentations, which will be followed by question-and-answer sessions. The events will generally begin at 5:00 p.m. CET.
Other speakers already lined up include the journalist and physicist Niels Boeing (February), Dr. Péter Krüger, Head of Bayer Working Group Nanotechnology (March), and Prof. Ralf Wehrspohn, Head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials (April).
Nanotechnology is considered to be the key technology of the 21st century. It facilitates innovative products and procedures that can change the world for the better and open up significant opportunities for industry and society. Trust and acceptance toward nanotechnology are essential for optimally exploiting the indisputable benefits and enormous potential it offers in terms of positive economic and social development. Nanostart AG promotes a nuanced, ideology-free approach and impartial, objective discussion. The NanoWebTalk series is intended to contribute to social discourse by providing first-hand information on nanotechnology.
More information on the NanoWebTalks, topics, dates and speakers can be found at www.nanowebtalk.de. Interested parties can also register for the events at this address.
