With an objective of bridging Students with Scientists, a special programme "Nano for the Young" is planned for the students by Prof. C.N.R. Rao along with Prof. Ajay K. Sood (IISc), Prof. Umesh Waghmare, (JNCASR, Bangalore) and Prof. Krishna N. Ganesh, (IISER, Pune), during "Nano for the Young". The Panel of experts would share with students the key aspects of Nanotechnology and the excitement that lies in Nano Research.
Bangalore Nano National Award 2011 will be conferred upon Dr. G Sundararajan, Director, International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), Hyderabad. The previous recipients of the award were Prof. C.N.R. Rao in 2007, Prof. Dipankar Chakravorty in 2008 and Prof. Ajay K Sood in 2010.
Additionally, a new Award has been instituted from this year ¨India Nanotech Innovation Award¨. The ¨India Nanotech Innovation Award¨ will be presented to an organization / individual in recognition of innovations in nanotechnology that would revolutionize the sector.
The National Lecture Series will feature this year's Bangalore Nano 2011 National Award recipient Dr. G. Sundararajan - Director, International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy & New Materials (ARCI) and Dr. Srikumar Banerjee - Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary to Government, Dept. of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India.
This year's event will also feature Research Industry Collaboration Hub (RICH) wherein 7 Startup Companies will be pitching for investments or research collaborations from the VC Community and Research Institutions. RICH will also facilitate podium presentations and one-to-one meetings for emerging entrepreneurs in Nanotechnology.
Bangalore Nano 2011 will offer a unique opportunity for 115 Young Scientists and Researchers to present their innovations in the "Poster Session" from 160 entries, from the best of Institutions like IISc, JNCASR, IITs, NCBS and international Universities.
