Abstract:
Searchlight Solutions Ltd. (PINKSHEETS: SLLN) today announces its subsidiary, Linux Labs International, Inc., has recently completed a key developmental milestone for its proprietary NimbusOS, the operating system for its High Performance Cloud Computing ("HPC2") service and Supercomputing cluster computer products.
Specifically, LinuxLabs announces support for the LAMMPS and Gromacs Molecular Dynamics Simulators for their NimBus OS. Molecular dynamics simulations (MDS) typically are used for nanotechnology, quantum mechanics and materials research. MDSs are popular with academic and research institutions due to the wide material modeling capability, and the ability to be customized.
Company Management stated: "Having our Nimbus OS support LAMMPS and Gromacs expands the range of customers that we can sell our products and services to. We look forward to targeting the nanotech communities and other high tech market segments as we rollout our new service offerings."
GROMACS (GROningen MAchine for Chemical Simulations) is a molecular dynamics simulation package, primarily designed for biochemical molecules like proteins, lipids and nucleic acids. There is an ongoing development to extend GROMACS with interfaces both to Quantum Chemistry and Bioinformatics/databases. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GROMACS)
LAMMPS (Large-scale Atomic/Molecular Massively Parallel Simulator) has potentials for soft materials (biomolecules, polymers) and solid-state materials (metals, semiconductors) and coarse-grained or mesoscopic systems. It can be used to model atoms or, more generically, as a parallel particle simulator at the atomic, meso, or continuum scale. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LAMMPS)
Both LAMMPS and Gromacs are widely used Open Source applications.
