Home > Press > Iran Unveils New Nano Drug
Abstract:
Iran on Monday unveiled a new type of antibiotic named 'SinaDoxosome' used for treating various types of abdominal cancers with similar application to Doxorubicin.
The nano drug connects doxil to DNA and prevents the formation of nucleic acid. Studies show that doxil can rapidly diffuse into the cell and stick to chromatin around the nuclei. They also show that the medicine can stop cancerous cells very quickly.
The drug is 100 nanometer in diameter.
The tiny dimension of this drug makes possible its diffusion into the venous tissue of tumors, and it can carry a considerable amount of medicine.
Among the advantages of this drug over the similar non-nanometric drugs, mention can be made of higher solubility, lower toxicity, longer period of staying in the target cell, and more easily diffusion into the cell.
The aforementioned products will be presented in the Fourth Nanotechnology Festival and Exhibition (Iran Nano 2011).
