Abstract:
The Iranian Education Ministry and the Training Department of Hamedan General Governorate held a seminar entitled 'Strategies for Nanotechnology Development in Iran's Western Hamedan Province.
The Secretary of the Nanotechnology Promotion Workgroup of the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC), research deputies of a number of universities, faculties and executive bodies in the province took part in the seminar.
Emad Ahmadvand, the Secretary of Nanotechnology Promotion Workgroup of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council, delivered a lecture in the seminar, and pointed out to the applications of nanotechnology in various industries.
He explained the policies and activities carried out in order to develop this technology in Iran, and Iran's rank in the field of science, technology, and industry. Then, he explained and analyzed some of the activities in regard with nanotechnology development in Hamedan Province.
Among other scopes of the seminar, mention can be made of the province's rank and position in various indices on promotion, research, human resources, and laboratory in the field of nanotechnology.
Research activities of Hamedan Province ranked 18 among all other provinces in 2010, and the province ranked 26 in promotional indices. A significant growth has been observed in the activities of this province in 2011 to the extent that 790 students from this province (comprising 19% of the all applicants) have registered to participate in the Second Nanotechnology Olympiads for Students.
