Glenville, NY | Posted on January 19th, 2011

Applied Robotics, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of robotic end-of-arm tooling and connectivity solutions, announced today that Michael F. Quinn, P.E., has stepped into the position of Chief Executive Officer and President upon the retirement of Thomas Petronis.

Petronis, who joined Applied Robotics, Inc. in 1983 after 18 years with GE's Automation Development operation, has played an integral part in ARI's development into a key international automation solutions provider.

"Instead of being in the thick of the action, it's time for me to start cheering Applied Robotics along from the sidelines. I have been a part of the automation industry for more than 40 years, and while it has been a thrilling journey, I am looking forward to my next adventure," said Tom Petronis.

A licensed Professional Engineer, Quinn comes to Applied Robotics, Inc. with 45 years of senior management and technical experience with the US Naval Nuclear Program at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory and with an impressive record of leadership success in strategic planning, system engineering, and root-cause analysis.

"We are going to miss Tom's dedication to our people and the company and his automation knowledge, but we wish him all the best," said Michael F. Quinn, ARI's new president and CEO. "Like Tom, I am passionate about the huge potential for the automation industry and Applied Robotics' ability to harness that potential for our customers, employees, and shareholders. Over the next several months, Tom and I will continue working with the Board and the management team to ensure a seamless transition with his retirement."

"Applied Robotics will benefit from Mike's expertise in strategic planning and systems engineering as well as his strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills," said Petronis. "Mike is extremely focused and brings vast business experience to Applied Robotics. I am absolutely confident I am leaving the company in good hands."
