Abstract:
The National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC) initiated a project in 2008 which have caused significant multiplying effect to building human resource to help promote public awareness in nanotechnology.
It is safe to say that nanotechnology is beginning to play a big role in consumers' everyday life from medical to sports to pharmaceuticals. Therefore, it is necessary to build public awareness and understanding to the importance of nanotechnology. The National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC) initiated a project in 2008 which have caused significant multiplying effect to building human resource to help promote public awareness in nanotechnology. The objective of the Training for the Trainer in nanotechnology (TTN) project is to build a network of qualified instructors and teachers who understands nanotechnology and who can help transfer this understanding to their peers.
Since its conception in 2008, the network of the Training for the trainer in nanotechnology program consisted of 64 member team from 49 institutions such as high schools, universities, and research institutions. A total of 325 training sessions were held for teachers and faculty members, 523 training activities were held for students, 1383 training activities for classroom teaching, and 26,650 exhibitions were held. 2011 will be TTN's final year in operation. However, the management is exploring ways to maintain the existing network and utilize its expertise in a different area which is yet to be confirmed.
The help update the public of the status of their work and to recruit new members, the TTN network members organized a panel discussion session during NanoThailand 2010 on Nov 20. TTN members participating in the panel discussion session was Dr. Sommai Patitangkho from Buriram Ratjabhat University, Mr. Sarunyou Srisomporn from Prajinratsadornumrung School in Prajinburi, and Mr. Sakonchai Chanunont from Naresuan University in Phitsanulok.
NanoThailand 2010 is the annual conference of NanoThailand and the premier nanotechnology conference for Thailand and Asia Pacific. The conference has attracted over 1000 delegates from across the world each year and is renowned for its agenda-setting programs, significant business analysis and world class programs. Highlight of the exhibition included; Value Added Traditional Fabrics by Using Scientific Approaches, nano bednets, Electronic Nose (E-Nose), Leptospirosis screening test, and Scratch resistant coating film on PET plastic sheet.
