Abstract:
According to a new technical market research report, NANOTECHNOLOGY IN PAPER MANUFACTURING: GLOBAL MARKETS (NAN049A) from BCC Research (www.bccresearch.com), the global market value for nanotechnology in paper manufacturing is an estimated $3.2 billion in 2010, but is expected to increase to $3.7 billion in 2015, for a 5-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.8%.

Global Market For Nanotechnology In Paper Manufacturing To Be Worth $3.7 Billion In 2015

Wellesley, MA | Posted on December 1st, 2010

The largest segment of the market, made up of nanoparticles: clay, is expected to increase at a 5-year CAGR of 1.5%, from nearly $1.9 billion in 2010 to more than $2 billion in 2015.

The second-largest segment, nanostarch, is expected to reach a value of nearly $780 million in 2015. The market in 2010 is estimated at $671 million. Thus, the 5-year CAGR is projected to be 3.1%.

The smallest segment of the market, nanosensors, will have the highest 5-year CAGR, at 432.9%. It is projected to increase from virtually nothing in 2010 to $4.3 million in 2015.

Larger segments of the market include coatings (functional and barrier) which will rise from $611 million in 2010 to $675 million in 2010, for a 5-year CAGR of 2%; and nanoparticles: powder, which will increase from $67 million in 2010 to $187 million in 2015, for a CAGR of 22.7%

This report summarizes current technology platforms, research initiatives, and possible applications of nanotechnology in various types and grades of paper. It also summarizes current nanotechnology paper applications, estimates the current size of the market and projected size through 2015. The report provides market share estimates by type of technology, and identifies leading suppliers for each product and technology platform. Lastly, it profiles 29 leading providers and developers of nanotechnology products that are or can be used in the paper industry.

This report is intended to provide necessary background and reference material for individuals involved in, or potentially interested in the pulp and paper industry. This includes individuals and organizations involved in the development, formulation, manufacture, sale, and use of paper products.
