Abstract:
Iran plans to establish a nanometrology center in the near future, Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology Nasrin Soltankhah announced.
"In order to study the standards of the products manufactured in the field of nanotechnology, a nanometrology center is being designed," Soltankhah said.
She also announced the country's plans for the establishment of 55,000 knowledge-based companies, including the companies active in Nanotechnology and other prioritized technologies in this field.
Soltankhah reiterated that different Iranian ministries and institutions, including Sciences, Research and Technology Ministry, Industries and Mines Ministry, Health Ministry, Oil Ministry, Energy Ministry and Agricultural Jihad Ministry enjoy direct and indirect cooperation in the field of nanotechnology.
Noting that investment in the field of nanotechnology is not limited to special groups or institutions, she stressed the need for industrializing nanotechnology in Iran through cooperation among different people, groups, and organizations.
"The Iranian parliament (in line with the same policy) has adopted some decisions for supporting nanotechnology in the 2010 budget," Soltankhah said.
Elaborating on the history of nanotechnology in the last three decades in Iran, the Iranian vice-president said, "In 1990s, Iran's scientific capabilities had been mobilized in investment and efforts to train experts and establishment of necessary infrastructures. The 2000s was the period of efforts to develop and research and at present in 2010s, we should make our best to continue the previous activities in investment and industrialization of nanotechnology in Iran."
