Abstract:
P2i, the world leader in liquid repellent nano-coating technology, has consolidated its growing presence in the Asia Pacific (ASPAC) region with the opening of a new office in Singapore.

P2i Opens First ASPAC Office

Singapore | Posted on September 14th, 2010

With existing partners in the country, as well as Indonesia, Thailand and South East China (Guangdong and Fujian provinces), the new office reflects P2i's commitment to supporting its customers - wherever they are in the world. It also enables P2i to respond rapidly to the increasing international adoption of its revolutionary Aridion™ technology for consumer electronics, which is already gaining significant traction with mobile device manufacturers in China.

Simon Kellard, P2i's Group Operations Director who has relocated from the UK to head up the Singapore office, comments: "Our business has recently gained considerable momentum, with a three-fold increase in technology license revenues and a £5.5m ($8m) fund raising; the technology is also being used in a range of high volume products by well-known brands around the world. As much of our customers' manufacturing is undertaken across the Asia Pacific region, managing this growth on the ground in Singapore is an important part of our strategy - allowing us to offer ‘real time' support to this fast-paced and dynamic market, whilst also developing new relationships."

Carl Francis, CEO of P2i, said: "Our ASPAC office is the latest stage in P2i's rapid expansion, following the opening of our global headquarters in the UK last year and then the launch of P2i Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of P2i based at the Herty Advanced Material Development Center in Savannah, Georgia, US. It arises directly from the focused commercialization of the technology that we have undertaken during the past year, and reflects the continuing success we predict for our businesses in this region in future."

P2i's technology works by applying a nanometer-thin polymer layer over the entire surface of a product. Using an ionized gas (plasma) this layer is molecularly bound to the surface and becomes inseparable from it. The process confers superior oil and water repellency by reducing the surface energy to ultra-low levels - down to one third that of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene). On contact with the coating, liquids bead up and roll off, leaving the look and feel of the material unchanged. Tests show that P2i's nano-coating can be used to enhance a wide range of products and materials in both consumer and industrial applications.
