State-level Nano Regulation: Yes, Indeed, the Industry "Should Have Seen it Coming" – It Caused It!

Abstract:
This blog piece, by Richard Denison, a senior scientist at the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), is a response to John DiLoreto's editorial (www.nanotech-now.com/columns/?article=484), "We Should Have Seen It Coming: States Regulating Nanotechnology". Denison argues that the nanotechnology industry played a central role in driving states toward taking on nanotechnology oversight, because industry's principal stance on the issue has been to urge the federal government to "slow-walk" nanotechnology regulation.
