JPK announces the annual two day International Meeting on the application of SPM & Optical Tweezers for Life Sciences

Berlin | Posted on July 20th, 2010

The symposia will be held on the 6-7th October 2010 in Berlin focusing on applications developments in life sciences. These meetings continue to be highly regarded on the international life sciences meetings calendar. More than 100 scientists from around the world are expected to come to Berlin to discuss their results and share scientific knowledge in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

This year's speakers come from Europe and Canada and will present new research results on a wide variety of topics. The meeting will feature poster sessions where delegates are invited to showcase their work to their peers making it a most interactive scientific meeting. These traditionally attract a high standard of work offering research students the opportunity to present posters alongside leading researchers. The topics will range from reports on protein folding to the high speed AFM imaging of fibrils. Measuring mechanical properties of biomaterials is a feature of talks this year. These include soft biomolecular films using a new combination of AFM and microinterferrometry. For the optical tweezers interest, presentations on high speed manipulation and a means of moving the cell nucleus look particularly innovative.

Announcing this year's meeting, Torsten Jähnke, Chief Technical Officer of JPK, said "It is great to be able to host these annual events. As I travel to meetings around the world, I meet many people who have attended our past events and are asking about the next one. It has been an excellent way to build an extended family of like-minded scientists."
