SouthWest NanoTechnologies Presenting Carbon Nanotube Research at International Conference on the Science and Applications of Nanotubes in Montreal

NORMAN, OK | Posted on June 25th, 2010

SouthWest NanoTechnologies, Inc. (SWeNT), the leader in high quality, single-wall and specialty multi-wall carbon nanotubes (CNTs), will present findings on, "The Effect of Carbon Nanotube Diameter Distribution and Morphology on the Electrical Conductivity of Properties of Polycarbonate Composite" at the 11th International Conference on the Science and Application of Nanotubes.

The Conference is being held June 27-July 2, 2010 at the Hilton Bonaventure in Montreal, Canada. Dr. Ricardo Prada Silvy of SWeNT and Dr. Petra Potschke from the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research in Germany will be presenting their research during the poster sessions.

This research investigates the electrical conductivity of different composites consisting of several different MWCNT added to polycarbonate. The performance of few-walled CNTs having 3-6 walls (5-7 nm diameters) was compared with two commercial MWCNT that have larger diameters. The few-walled, straight tubes, developed using SWeNTs CoMoCAT® manufacturing process, provide higher conductivity properties at lower loading levels than traditional MWCNT, thereby reducing or eliminating adverse effects on mechanical properties.

About the 11th International Conference on the Science and Application of Nanotubes:
In the tradition of the Nanotube conference series, this meeting will bring leading researchers in the area of nanotube science and technology together to evaluate the current state of the art in nanotechnology and to identify current trends. The conference will encompass the frontiers of fundamental science as well as applied research, and will enable and encourage participants to exchange their latest ideas and results.
