Abstract:
The leading weekly materials science journal Advanced Materials has been chosen for indexing in MEDLINE, the database of biomedical journal citations and abstracts provided by the U.S. National Library of Medicine. This will allow biomedical researchers who use MEDLINE as their primary literature search database to discover important biomedical materials content published in Advanced Materials.
"The number of medicine-related professionals amongst our readership is growing strongly, especially due to the importance of novel (and nano-) materials in areas such as drug delivery and reconstructive surgery and the journal's excellent record in these areas," said Peter Gregory, Editor-in-Chief of Advanced Materials. "Being selected for inclusion in MEDLINE will help the biomedical community and find the relevant materials science published in Advanced Materials critical to their medical research programs."
As an example, in 2009 Advanced Materials published a 200-page special issue on regenerative medicine that highlighted the role of smart materials in the development and application of innovative medical therapies with the aim of healing or restoring damaged tissue or organs.
