Abstract:
A Full Day Course Presented by Licensing Executives Society (U.S.A. and Canada) at WBT2010
WBTshowcase announced today that it will host a one-day course during WBT2010 presented by the Licensing Executives Society (U.S.A. and Canada) titled "Commercializing Technology through the Power of IP Licensing". The Licensing Executives Society (U.S.A. and Canada), Inc. (LES) is a professional society comprised of over 6,000 members engaged in the transfer, use, development, and marketing of intellectual property.
WBT2010, to be held March 15 through 17 at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel and the Arlington Convention Center, is the premier event to see the world's best vetted and mentored deal flow ready for the marketplace.
The LES course to be presented during WBT2010 is designed as an introductory program for those new to intellectual property licensing. To fully demonstrate how licensing intersects with business and law, the program incorporates a team teaching model with a business professional, John Somich, Intellectual Asset Strategy Manager, BP America, and an intellectual property attorney, Michael R. Samardzija, Ph.D., Counsel, Bracewell & Giuliani.
Course content will include:
* IP Basics: patents, trademarks, know-how, trade secrets and more
* Smart strategies for creating, organizing, managing and securing IP assets
* Bringing IP to market - Commercialization
* Royalties and ideas for maximizing IP value and making money
* Interesting case studies and an interactive deal negotiation by participants
The "Commercializing Technology through the Power of IP Licensing" course will culminate with participants engaging in an applied licensing exercise that includes a mock negotiation which covers the information learned throughout the day.
"Not only is this course a dynamic professional development course, it's a great institutional calling card for LES. We're excited about the opportunity to impart our members' knowledge and experiences at WBT2010," said Ken Schoppmann, Executive Director, LES. "The course content is perfectly suited for WBT attendees, whether they are fledgling entrepreneurs, principal investigators, students or aspiring technology transfer professionals. ‘Commercializing Technology through the Power of IP Licensing' will give them the tools they need to understand and participate effectively in the process of protecting IP and facilitating its commercialization."
The LES IP Licensing course will take place Monday, March 15, 2010, from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel.
WBT2010 is produced by Development Capital Networks in cooperation with National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI), National Association of Seed and Venture Funds (NASVF) and Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer (FLC). WBT2010 will feature 100 vetted and mentored emerging and converging materials science, information technology, energy, life science and nanotechnology companies and technologies.
WBT2010 is hosted by the Center for Innovation at Arlington, and co-hosted by the University of Texas at Arlington. For additional information, visit www.WBTshowcase.com.
