Abstract:
Presented by Pietro Perlo of Centro Ricerche Fiat
'Nanotechnology Enabling Clean and Energy Saving Mobility'
Thursday 11th February 2010 from 18.30hrs - 20.00hrs
The Royal College of Physicians, London
Electrified mobility is currently a top priority in the US, Japan, China, Korea and EU. It will introduce a radical industrial-economical-energetic change in our society, as new technologies and infrastructure are put in place over the next two decades.
The move to the Electrical Mobility is proceeding in parallel and converging with the introduction of Renewable Energy; both have reached a point of non return. In EU and in the US most of new power installations are now based on Renewable Energies and essentially all new programmes on mobility address the implementation of advanced electrical power trains.

You are also invited to attend the FramingNano UK workshop taking place on Thursday 11th February 2010 from 10.00hrs - 16.00hrs at The Royal College of Physicians, 11 St Andrews Place, Regent's Park, London, NW1 4LE.
The FramingNano Project, under the EU's FP7 Programme, has over the past two years developed a proposal for a nanotechnology governance framework that fulfils these needs and which takes into account the opinions of key stakeholders. The framework addresses key needs such as environmental health and safety (EHS) and ethical, legal and social issues (ELSI) as well as the challenges of international cooperation and organisational implementation of key governance measures.
The FramingNano UK Event, to be held in London on 11 February, provides a unique opportunity to explore the key issues of nanotechnology governance and to discuss possible new governance models. The Event will be of interest to all concerned with the responsible development of this vitally important enabling technology.
The FramingNano UK Event is free to attend but requires online registration at www.framingnano.eu/

About Institute of Nanotechnology
The Institute of Nanotechnology (IoN) was founded by Ottilia Saxl in January 1997. It is a registered Charity, whose core activities are focused on education and training in nanotechnology, in the widest sense. It grew out of the Centre for Nanotechnology, part funded by the DTI through the UK 's National Initiative on Nanotechnology (NION). The Institute was one of the world's first nanotechnology information providers and is now a global leader.
IoN works closely with governments, universities, researchers, companies and the general public to educate and inform on all aspects of nanotechnology. It is also an organizer of international scientific events, conferences and educational courses that examine the implications of nanotechnology for industry, society, health, energy and the environment, and the disadvantaged communities across the globe.
