"Right now, the Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys good cooperation with the UNIDO in a number of industrial fields and also in Nanotechnology," Mehrabian said, reminding that Tehran and UNIDO have endorsed cooperation agreements in the field of Nanotechnology.

The minister added that he had held good and effective meetings with the officials participating in the UNIDO General Conference on expansion of mutual and international cooperation.

He also announced that Iran and the UN body are slated to sign a cooperation agreement on the expansion of South-South cooperation, and noted, "This cooperation agreement can play a significant role in the promotion of the country's industries through exporting technical and engineering services."

The five-day biennial UNIDO General Conference, chaired by the Islamic Republic of Iran, kicked off in Vienna on Monday.

Iran's Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali Asqar Soltaniyeh chairs the event.

The conference is attended by presidents, premiers and industry ministers from 100 different world countries.

The General Conference, UNIDO's highest policymaking organ, is attended by all the 173 member states.
