New jobs a top priority for each of the four candidates vying for two positions

Abstract:
New jobs should be top priority at the Port of Camas-Washougal, say all four candidates vying for two port commissioner's seats in the Nov. 3 election.

However, one of the two races — between Alan Hargrave and Bill Macrae-Smith for District 3; the other features Gary Perman and Mark Lampton for District 2 — hinges on the voters' view of RiverWalk, a controversial waterfront, port-sponsored project that went south in 2007.

"I think the port needs to focus on biotechnology, nanotechnology, call centers and semiconductors. Those are the type of companies that are growing," Perman said.
